Carol J. Macomber, DVM, Owner
Dr. Carol Macomber was born and raised in Massachusetts. As a child, she often brought home stray animals much to her parent’s dismay! She has been surrounded by animals her whole life, raising German shepherds for the Guiding Dogs Program, assisting her mother with Persian cat breeding and showing and later her own breeding of Cockatiels.
Dr. Macomber received an associate degree in Computer Science from Newbury Jr. College followed by a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Computer Science from Northeastern University. After many years working as a Certified Public Accountant, she could no longer ignore her true calling of being a veterinarian. Dr. Macomber received a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999 fulfilling her life-long dream of becoming a veterinarian. She then received a post graduate Avian study certificate from NAVC in 2002.
Dr. Macomber had a mobile practice before opening the hospital in April of 2007. She treasures the long-term relationships with pets and their owners. Meeting new people every day, giving animals her very best care and witnessing the joy pets give their owners are reasons she loves being a veterinarian. Nothing is more satisfying than knowing she helped a pet live a comfortable, healthy and productive life. Especially rewarding is when patients are very excited to see their friend and doctor.
When not in the clinic, she enjoys reading science fiction, sewing, and spending time with her family, including six dogs, two cats, and three birds.
